
GILAS PILIPINAS FINISHES 21ST IN FIBA WORLD CUP, BLATCHE OUTSTANDING

Gilas Pilipinas has finished 21st among the 24 teams in the FIBA World Cup which ended early Monday morning in Madrid, Spain with the United States crushing Serbia 129-92.
The Philippines which suffered three heartbreaking losses in the Group stage and finished with an overtime win over fancied Senegal, finished ahead of Finland, South Korea and Egypt.
Naturalized NBA player Andray Blatche was the top performer despite the failure of the Philippines to advance to the second round.
Blatche?s efficiency per game was 22.4, ahead of Spain?s Paul Gasol 21.7 and Hamed Haddadi of Iran 20.2.
The NBA free agent who played for the Brooklyn Nets in the last season was third in scoring with an average of 21.2 points per game behind Jose Barea of Puerto Rico 22.0 per game and Bojan Bogdanovic of Croatia who averaged 21.2 points a game.
Blatche was No.1 in rebounds pulling down 13.8 boards a game ahead of Haddadi 11.4 and Gorgui Dieng of Senegal 10.7 per game.
