It was lucky 13 for ?The Golden Boy? Oscar de La Hoya who was honored by Las Vegas, Nevada which proclaimed September 13th as ?Oscar de La Hoya day.?

The World Boxing Council reported that Nevada State Senator, Ruben Kihuen and Clark County Comissioner, Lawrence Weekly issued the proclamation and arranged what the WBC described as ?a magnificent formal ceremony event for Oscar De La Hoya right in front of the characteristic signboard "Welcome to Las Vegas" last Saturday at 1:00 PM, in an extravaganza? that was crowded with media and fans.
