In a non-title rumble in the super bantamweight division, Filipino Dado Cabentoy (14-4-2, 8 KO's) of Dilasag, Aurora Province, scored a hard-fought 5th round technical decision win over tough Japanese warrior Yuta Sasaki today (Aug 24) at the Convention Center of Ginowan City in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

The third man stopped the contest due to a dangerous cut on the Japanese, raising the hand of the 24-year-old Pinoy fighter, who wins is third consecutive fight in the land of the rising sun.

In the same card, veteran 32-year-old Filipino super featherweight Edgar Gabejan (26-30-6, 8 KO's) of Western Samar lost a very close split decision to local Okinawa boxer Masatoshi Kotani (15-2, 11 KO's).

Official scores were: 77-76 (twice) for Kotani, while the third judge voted 77-76 for Gabejan.

"It was an exciting fight but the result is unfair. Gabejan should have won the fight. I really don't know where the judges got that score," said Filipino manager Aljoe Jaro, 41, of Jaro Boxing in Rizal.

Today's card in Okinawa, Japan, was a production of promoter Shigeru Nakama of Okinawa World Ring Promotions.
