The Florida, USA-based International Boxing Organization (IBO) has named Great Britain's Michael Alexander as the referee in the World Super Flyweight championship between defending champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong of the Philippines and South African challenger Lwandile Sityatha on July 18 in East London, South Africa.
In an official notice of assignment of officials issued a few days ago, IBO President Edward Levine also appointed the three judges at ringside namely Andile Matika of South Africa, Waleska Roldan of the United States and Bruce Mctavish of the Philippines.
The Super Flyweight championship scheduled for 12-rounds will be held at the Orient Theatre in East London, about two hours away from Johannesburg.
Promoted by Ayanda Matiti of Xaba Promotions, the bout will be supervised by the South African Boxing Commission under Loyiso Mtya.
IBO Vice President for Africa, Len Hunt, will be the IBO Representative at ringside.
This will be the first title defense of Dapudong who won the title via a first round knockout in his rematch with former champion Gideon Buthelezi, also of South Africa.
The 28-year-old champion and his team led by his manager, former North Cotabato Governor Manny Pinol and trainers Nonoy Neri and Rex Penalosa will leave for South Africa on July 12 via Singapore.
