
AQ Prime Chess bet Marius Zabanal Constante of Pasig City rules Elementary Division of NCR Palarong Pambansa Standard chess elims

AQ Prime Sports Chess Talents top player Marius Zabanal Constante of Pasig City emerged as champion of the Elementary Boys Division of National Capital Region Athletic Association much known Palarong Pambansa Standard chess elimination at the Rosauro Almario Elementary School in Tondo, Manila on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The 8-year-old Constante, a Grade 3 Student of Victory Christian International School in Pasig City, finished the 7-Round Swiss System competition with 6.0 points on account of six wins and one loss in seven outings to clinch the title.
"I am very happy with my victory because almost all of the top players in Metro Manila joined the tournament," said Constante, a child chess prodigy.
"I would like to thank AQ Prime CEO/President Atty. Aldwin F. Alegre , Sir Jose Rafael "Jojo" Legaspi, Victory Christian International School, Pasig City Government , Coach Franco Camillo and Coach Noel dela Cruz for supporting my participation in the NCR Palarong Pambansa Elimination round and other local chess tournaments," he added.
Constante defeated David Marcus Badillo of Pasay City in the first round, Cedrick Pabiana of Manila in the second round, David Francis Modesto of Las Pinas in the third round, Marco Piolo K. Sanido of Manila in the fifth round, AFM Steve Nitafan of Mandaluyong in the sixth round and John Timothy Navarro of Muntinlupa in the seventh and final round.
His only loss was at the hands of Caleb Royce Garcia of Taguig-Pateros in the fourth round.
Danry Seth Romualdez of Taguig-Pateros edged his team mate Garcia in the last round to finish in a tie for 2nd to 3rd placers over former solo leader Caleb.
Romualdez and Caleb, both finished identical 5.5 points apiece, however the former (Romualdez) took the runner-up place after a superior tie break (winner over other).
Thus, Constante and Romualdez, both will represent the National Capital Region in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa National Finals in Agusan del Sur later this year.
The Chief Arbiter was FA Hubert Estrella assisted by FA Alberto Dacallos Jr., NA Israel Landicho and Gerardo Perreras.
