In impressive fashion, undefeated 20-year-old John Vincent Moralde (10-0, 6 KO's) of Davao City scored a devastating round 2 TKO over Gensan warrior Ronerex Dalut, 25, to capture the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight belt last night (July 2) at Bula Gym in General Santos City.
In the co-main event, American welterweight Danny McDermott of Jersey City, New Jersey, defeated Filipino veteran Jesar Ancajas of Korondal City via round one disqualification. The quick battle was McDermott's first fight outing outside the United States.
Also, in a clash in the super flyweight division, hard-hitting 22-year-old Daryl "Flash" Basadre (12-1-1, 9 KO's) of Cagayan de Oro punished and knocked out Sadam Barambangan during their quick, but intense skirmish.
The fight of unbeaten Harmolito Dela Torre of Gensan was cancelled in the last hour due to his opponent's inability to submit the medical requirements.
Last night's boxing show was organized and produced by young promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of JM Promotions.
