Former WBC flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro is eyeing another world title shot and needs to wim impressively against Indonesia?s Ichal Tobida in a fight card at the Almendras Gym in Davao City this evening.

Jaro?s manager Aljoe Jaro told Viva Sports that the former world champion was in good condition and didn?t have any problems making the weight.

He said Sonny Boy Jaro must win to get back into contention for a possible world title shot in the future.

Jaro created a stunning upset to win the WBC title when he scored a 6th round TKO over WBC ?Fighter of the Year? and long-reigning world champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam on March 2, 2012 but lost the title in his first defense by a somewhat controversial twelve round split decision to Japan?s Toshiyuki Igarashi in Saitama, Japan followed by two more defeats to another Japanese Hiroyushi Hisataka by a ten round unanimous decision on April 7, 2013 and a ten round split decision to Gerpaul Valero on August 1, 2013.

The 32 year old Sonny Boy Jaro quickly recovered from the setbacks and won by a 1st round knockout of Marzon Cabilla on January 11, 2014 dropping Cabilla twice in the very first round before scoring another 1st round TKO over Jovel Romasasa last March 21.

Jaro who has a record of 36-13-5 with 26 knockouts has trained hard for the past two months and is aiming for a first round knockout if possible against Indonesia?s 29 year old Tobida who has a ring record of 10-11 with 8 knockouts .

Tobida is an aggressive fighter with punching power and is expected to be an ideal opponent for the hard-hitting Jaro who should win handily and get back on the road to another title shot.
