Filipino fighters Macrea Gandionco (L) and Michael "Blade" Enriquez, together with their promoter Jim Claude Manangquil arrived in East London, South Africa on Wednesday ahead of their 12-rounder IBO Intercontinental title fights against local South African boxers at The Orient Theater this Friday (June 6).
Gandionco (10-0-1, 6 KO's ) of Baguio will battle hard-hitting former South African champion Luzuko Siyo (12-2, 9 KO's ) for the vacant IBO Jr. Flyweight (108 lbs) Intercontinental strap, while Enriquez (8-1-1, 4 KO's) of Cagayan de Oro will collide with Mzuvukile "Old Bones" Magwaca (13-1-1, 8 KO's) for the vacant IBO Intercontinental Flyweight (112 lbs) belt.
The official IBO weight-in ceremony will take place today Thursday (June 5) at 2pm South Africa Time (8pm Philippines Time), and according to manager Manangquil, both two Pinoy warriors have weight under control.
"Despite the long trip, Gandionco and Enriquez are OK in weight and in high spirits with positive thinking. We are all feeling good and ready for the battles, though i wish we could have arrived here in South Africa a day or two earlier. But that could not be due to visa issues," shared Manangquil.
Head coach Renie Gabawa is assisting the boxers in their important appointments.
