DAVAO CITY -- Many boxing fans here think that 8-world division boxing champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has slowed down despite winning by a unanimous decision against over-confident American Timothy Bradley to win back the WBO welterweight crown last Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

"He is not like before because of his age (Pacquiao is 35 years old) but his performance is convincing," said Yolly Alfante, president of the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) and the Buhay Kamao Boxing Foundation.

Boxing manager-promoter and retired police officer Willie Neri, on the other hand, said "Manny is no longer the same Manny. He is down by 30 percent in performance."

Balikbayan Loddy Tenizo from California, USA said that "Pascquiao is still a good boxer pero hindi na kasing bilis dati."

"He's in good condition from 1st to 12th round. Although he slowed down a little now," said Macario "Bong" Gonzaga, assistant regional director of the Land Transportation Office XI.
Government employee Eddie Ramas of CENRO was surprised that Bradley suddenly stopped fighting in the 10th round.

"Hindi kaya nagpatalo siya?," Ramas said.

Engr. Loloy Rober of the Bureau of Interior and Revenue (BIR) Region 11, however, said that Pacquiao is still fast.
"Bilis pa rin si Pacman," said Rober.

Businessman Bobby Mercado is happy that Pacquiao won again. "Masaya ako na nanalo si Pacquiao. No. 1 fan kasi ang asawa ko. Pero, I think hindi na siya ganun kagaling dati," said Mercado.
Many Dabawenyos, however, think that Pacquiao was already not careless this time.

Photographer Tommy Inigo, who saw the pay-per-view fight at the Royal Mandaya Hotel thinks Pacquiao only had used his brain this time against Bradley.

"Much better than his last fight against Bradley. Gamit na ang utak," Inigo said.

Ultramarathoner Rodrigo "Ego" Lanorias agrees that Pacquiao was more of a thinking fighter this time.

"His being tentative in lieu of a killer instinct was a result of being careless and over confident during his worst TKO in Marquez fight. He still has the "IT" and the worst nightmare of Mayweather", said Lanorias.

"OK man performance but I was expecting a knockout. Maybe cautious na siya and he learned his lesson not to rush things, slowly but surely" said former Philippine national karatedo player-coach Rommel Tan of the Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Davao.

Former assistant team manager of MP Pacman basketball team Amay Neri said: "Dominated ni Pacquiao ang strategy plan ng Bradley camp. Good conditioning to the People's Champ."

Radio DJ Marlon Gayog of iFM said Pacquiao overpowered Bradley in their 12-round fight and is back to his groove.

"He is like the Pacman who fought the legend Oscar de Hoya. Pacman is now back not only in boxing but in his prime of his life. He can be the next senator of vice-president of the Philippines," Gayog said. -- LITO DELOS REYES
