The International Boxing Federation/United States Boxing Association will run a fund raising campaign in the name of light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero for the victims of Typhoon "Yolanda" in Ormoc City.

The fund raiser will coincide with the IBF/USBA 31st Annual Convention on May 21 where Casimero will be recognized for his three successful title defenses.

A news release said the campaign dubbed ?Casimero Aid to Ormoc City? will raise funds for the IPI Foundation which is a Philippine-based charitable organization chosen by Casimero and is owned and operated by International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated.

The goal is to raise enough funds to set up 100 households with what is known as the ?Sustainable Container Gardening Program.? The target is a modest $4,500.00.

IPI representative Lourdes Pepito-Damazo said the program is ?to re-establish the hope and self-reliance of our affected brothers and sisters? with the main objective being to provide an avenue for survivors of Yolanda to grow fresh, sustainable vegetables in their backyard and is intended for the newly-relocated and organized communities from no-build zones in Ormoc and Tacloban City.

IBF president Daryl Peoples commended Casimero as ?an excellent boxer, a remarkable sportsman and we are proud that he is one of our champions. It is an honor to do this in his name.?

Casimero is scheduled to defend his title against Mauricio Fuentes at the Waterfront Resort Hotel and Casino in Cebu on May 3.
