Viva Sports will telecast a one hour special on the title defense of WBO minimum weight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo who battles Mexico?s No. 9 ranked Francisco Rodriguez Jr in Monterrey, Mexico on Sunday in a fight card to be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Channel 2 at 10:15 a.m..
The pre-fight special will be telecast at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday on Pinoy Boxing Office over SkyCable on the top-rating weekly boxing show ?The Main Event.?
The special will provide fight fans with a glimpse of the 20 year old Rodriguez with highlights of his fights against former world minimum weight champion Manuel ?Chango? Vargas who at one time faced Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire for the world flyweight title, tough Victor Ruiz, Ernesto Guerrero and WBA light flyweight champion, undefeated Roman Gonzales who had an unblemished record of 35-0 with 29 knockouts.
Rodriguez won by a 3rd round TKO over Vargas, a 5th round TKO over Ruiz, a 5th round TKO over Guerrero and only lost to Gonzales by what many considered a premature 7th round stoppage.
Sabillo has undergone intensive training in San Diego and Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym and reportedly is in the best shape of his life following the work done by strength and conditioning coach Nick Curson.
Trainer Edito ?Ala? Villamor told the Manila Standard that it was ?the best training camp ever? and that Sabillo is ripped and ready to defend his crown and isn?t awed by the Mexican?s hometown crowd.
