ALDEGUER PLANS TO GIVE SERVANIA A REST AND HAVE HIS NASTY GASH THOROUGHLY CHECKED

ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer plans to give WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight champion Genesis Servania a rest following his impressive 12th round TKO of former two-time world super flyweight champion Alexander ?El Explosivo? Munoz of Venezuela last Saturday.

Aldeguer told the Manila Standard he was ?worried about the deep cut? suffered by Servania just below his left eyebrow as a result of a head-butt by Munoz in round eight.

He said they plan to consult specialists on how best to treat the cut because it was the second time it happened and he doesn?t want the cut to re-open especially if he gets a crack at a world title.

For now Aldeguer said plans for a world title fight are on hold and when Servania returns to the ring with his cut properly healed he plans on first putting him in a tune-up fight but no opponent has been considered as yet.

Servania who spoke to the Standard prior to leaving for Cebu with OPBF super flyweight champion ?King? Arthur Villanueva and trainer Edmund Villamor, said he had ten stitches to close the cut although there was still some swelling.

The champion whose performance drew tremendous applause from a big audience at the Solaire Resort and Casino, had previously also scored a 12th round stoppage against former three-time world title challenger Genaro "Poblanito"Garcia of Mexico, demonstrating his excellent condition and punching power even in the last round to win the vacant WBC Silver bantamweight title, dropping Garcia twice in the final round on June 2, 2012.

Garcia was later brutally murdered with four gunshot wounds in the head and his body dumped by a river in San Lorenzo, Mexico.

Trainer Villamor attributed this to Servania?s dedication and good habits and the fact that they had no problems with him. He said ?we will be ready for whoever is his next opponent.?

Servania wasn?t bothered by the cut repeatedly stressing ?I?m okay. No problem? even as he told us he is looking forward to a world title shot when Aldeguer decides at the right time.
The 22 year old sweet-punching Servania said the style of Munoz ?was different. I thought he will fight bell-to-bell but he moved a lot and while I had some problems I did everything needed to win. It was a great ending for me. It was a good fight and I?m happy.?

Villanueva who escaped a monumental upset by eking out a close ten round decision over last-minute replacement Fernando Aguilar who stepped in for Juan Hernandez who was injured in a motorcycle accident conceded he had ?a hard time against Aguilar. I didn?t underestimate him. It was not an easy fight but I didn?t expect him to be so strong. While I could handle his punches, he could also take mine. It was a great experience for me.?
