Well known boxing TV and Radio host and multi-titled Victorian promoter Peter Maniatis has received confirmation from the WBC Asia Committee headed by Damrong Simakajorn and Patrick Cusik that he has been voted as WBC Asia Australia Promoter of the Year to be presented in Bangkok on March 25.

Maniatis, a fairly frequent visitor to the Philippines since he co-managers top light flyweight contender, 22 year old Randy Petalcorin (20-1-1, 15 KO?s) and undefeated super featherweight, 20 year old Harmonito DeLa Torre (12-0, 7 KO?s) along with General Santos boxing man Jim Manangquil, also won the award in 2012.

Maniatis told the Manila Standard that Petalcorin was scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on Tuesday to begin training for his March 28th fight in Melbourne which boxrec.com reported will be against Lookrak Kiatmungmee (7-5, 4 KO?s) , while DeLa Torre who scored a 1st round knockout over overmatched Indonesian Yakobus Heluka in Macau last Saturday has also been picked to see action against another Indonesian Andy Letding (7-3-3, 3 KO?s) on the March 28th card promoted by Maniatis at the Malvern Town Hall.
However, Maniatis said he spoke to the co - manager Managquil who informed him they are waiting for MP Promotions of Manny Pacquaio to confirm if DeLa Torre will be on the undercard of Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on April 12.

Maniatis said "I would like to thank Mr Damrong Simakajornboon who is a colonel in the Thailand army and also boxrec editor and Mr Patrick Cusick who works hard in Australia to give our boxers the best chance to succeeded overseas" for the honor.

He said his next goal is to get Petalcorin a shot at interim WBA champion Alberto Rossel from Peru.

Maniatis disclosed he had received emails from WBA official Julio Thyme stating that the No.2 ranked Petalcorin ? is on target for a title shot against Rossel? and that wealthy international businessman Sean Buckley who is the CEO of UltraTune service centers is ready to back Petalcorin in his world title bid.

The Australian promoter added ?Mr. Buckley is one of the most successful and wealthy businessmen in Australia and his greatest asset is his loyalty besides having a heart of gold. We are lucky to have him on board."
