Villanueva.
Determined to find a quality opponent for WBO International super flyweight champion ?King Arthur? Villanueva after his Mexican opponent Juan Hernandez was injured in a motorcycle accident, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer continues to burn the wires in the hope of finding a worthy replacement.
The accident of Hernandez is indeed a pity because he would have given Villanueva an acid test in the top rating ?Pinoy Pride? series titled ?The Future Is Now? which is a joint presentation of ALA Promotions and the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN at the plush Solaire Resort Hotel and Casino along Manila Bay on March 1.
Hernandez who boasts of a 3rd round victory over hard-hitting Denver Cuello who was disqualified on May 22, 2010 and a split decision win over previously undefeated Moises Fuentes on February 5, 2011 before Fuentes lost to Japan?s Kazuto Ioka in a WBC straw-weight title fight on August 10, 2011 was expected to give Villanueva a hard fight.
In the main event promising Genesis ?Azukal? Servania Servania who is ranked No. 3 by the WBO behind No. 1 rated Chris Avalos and No. 2 ranked Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire battles former world champion Alexander Munoz of Venezuela.
Servania is coming off an impressive 2nd round TKO of former WBA super flyweight champion Rafael ?El Torito? Concepcion of Panama who had previously gone twelve rounds with Donaire in a fight where Concepcion came in four pounds over the limit last October 26, 2013.
Aldeguer said he considers Servania one of the ALA Gym?s best prospects who ?has the tools to be world champion but there are some things he has to learn which comes with maturity. Its also a very tough decision. We are looking forward to this fight. When we decided on Munoz that?s the only way to find out where he?s at and whether he is ready to fight for a world title or does Servania need more time.?
Munoz (36-5, 28 KO?s) has faced some of the biggest names including Koki Kameda to whom he lost in a WBA bantamweight championship bout before also dropping a twelve round unanimous decision to the classy Cristian Mijares in a WBA super flyweight title bout on May 17, 2008.
The veteran Munoz won the WBA super flyweight title with an impressive victory over Japan?s Nobuo Nashiro and retained the title against another talented Japanese Katsushige Kawashima.
