SPEED SKATER JUNIO SEES ACTION IN WINTER OLYMPICS TONIGHT

Filipino Gilmore Junio will go up against Mitchell Whitmore of the United States in the Men?s 500 meter Speed Skating competition at the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia at 9:00 p.m. tonight.

Junio who finished second in the 2012 World Speed Skating Championships in December 2012 in Nagano, Japan to win a cherished silver medal.

The Fil-Canadian who once wanted to be an ice hockey player told the Calgary Herald after his silver medal finish ?Crazy. I never thought when I was playing hockey when I was seven that I would ever be standing on the podium at an international sporting event.?

Junio is one of three Filipinos competing in the Winter Olympics which is being telecast by TV5 which says it will try to incorporate the race which overall lasts about one minute during the coverage of Game 6 of the PBSA semi finals between Ginebra San Miguel and SanMig Coffee.

Junio will have a second race at 11:00 p.m. but there?s no word as of this time who he will race against.

However, the 11:00 p.m. event will be part of the ?live? telecast over TV5 and Hyper.
