The IBF has approved Colombia?s Mauricio Fuentes as the mandatory challenger to light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero of the Philippines in a fight tentatively scheduled to take place on March 29, possibly in Manila.

In an email to the partner of Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani, Sampson Lewkowicz, IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker Jr said ?the IBF has granted formal sanction approval for the IBF junior flyweight championship fight between champion Johnreil Casimero and Mauricio Fuentes.?

Tucker said the bout is scheduled for March 29, 2014 in Manila, Philippines.

He said the IBF president Daryl Peoples or he himself would be in touch regarding the sanction fees and the assignment of officials.

The 23 year old Casimero has a record of 19 wins and 2 losses with 11 wins coming by way of knockouts while 24 year old Fuentes of Colombia has a record of 16 wins, 2 losses and 10 wins by way of knockouts.

One of the most exciting Filipino world boxing champions today, Casimero won the title in extremely hostile circumstances when he scored a 10th round TKO victory over Luis Alberto Lazarte in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 10, 2012.
Casimero dropped Lazarte once in round nine and twice in round ten.

When referee Eddie Claudio stopped the fight at 1:09 of the 10th round as Lazarte was being badly beaten, fights fans, according to boxrec.com ?went ballistic and threw several chairs and other debris into the ring, hitting Casimero and his cornermen as chaos ensued and everyone ran for cover.?

Casimero also scored an impressive win in his title defense against highly-favored Luis Alberto Rios of Panama which Casimero by a lopsided twelve round near shutout decision on March 16, 2013.

In his last title defense at the Makati Coliseum, Casimero battered top class opponent Felipe Salguero dropping him in rounds 8, 9 and 11 en route to a dominating 11th round TKO.
Fuentes is coming off a 5th round TKO victory over Gustavo Cortes on March 22, 2013.
