Former WBA/WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria will see action on a Top Rank card over its Spanish network in February although they haven?t decided on an opponent or a site as yet.
Arum said they had two dates and that one of the sites being considered is in Texas.
He said it will be a tune-up fight for the former two-division world champion following his split decision loss to Mexico?s tough Juan Francisco Estrada on April 6 last year at the Cotai Arena of the plush Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Macau.
Viloria?s manager Gary Gittelsohn is discussing details with Top Rank?s Hall of Fame matchmaker Bruce Trampler.
Viloria who is ranked No. 2 by the WBO, No. 4 by the WBA and No. 9 by the IBF, himself told the Standard about the possible February return to the ring and said ?I?ve been in training camp just keeping myself in shape.?
He said he had already trained for some three-and-a-half weeks at the Wild Card Gym with Freddie Roach and Filipino assistant Marvin Somodio and ?may begin sparring next week.?
Viloria told us ?I don?t want to go full force yet until we know when the date is. I?ll just keep ready for anything.?
The former champion said he ?feels good and well rested and itching to get back into the ring. The hunger is still there and there is a lot of unfinished business to attend to? as he looked forward to a rematch with Estrada.
Viloria said he had learned from his loss to Estrada pointing out ?I learned to fight smart to fight my fight. I looked back and my training I think has been a lot better for me to go in there and fight my fight. I out-boxed him in the early part of the fight. I let him get too comfortable I should not have let him do that.?
An exuberant Viloria said ?everything is going great and we (him and wife Erika) are both really excited about the baby? who is a boy and is expected in May.
