Kobe Paras.
High School basketball star Kobe Paras, son of the only player to win the PBA ?Rookie of the Year? and MVP titles in 1989 Benjie Paras, is now in the United States to continue his studies in a La Sallian academic institution as a follow through to his high school career at La Salle Greenhills in the Philippines.

The 16 year old Paras won the Slam Dunk competition at the last FIBA World Championships in Indonesia where he represented the Philippines in the Under 18 three-on-three championships along with Thirdy Ravena, Arvin Tolentino and Prince Rivero.

His father wished to clarify that Kobe is in the US where his priority to study at a high school with rich Catholic traditions and one with a firm La Sallian background he has been used to in the Philippines and that he is not in the US on any form of basketball scholarship.

In order to correct the erroneous media reports, Kobe?s father said the family has never been in touch with the head coach of Cathedral High School and had never received a call from him.

Paras appealed to media to correct the misinformation which could eventually jeopardize the career of a promising student athlete who had brought honor to the Philippines.
