Filipino southpaw Ryan Sermona who last Saturday won the WBC International super featherweight title with a 4th round knockout of Australia?s defending champion Matt Garlett at the Metro City Thunderdome in Perth, Western Australia, may get a shot at the winner of the clash between champion Takashi Miura of Japan and Mexico?s Dante ?Crazy? Jardon.

This is the hope of Sermona?s manager Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde Jr who returned home on Monday from Perth.

Elorde told the Manila Standard that Garlett was leading on the judges scorecards when Sermona, a southpaw, nailed him with a vicious left uppercut followed by a left straight that dropped the Australian who tried to get up but fell back again to be counted out.

With the win the 26 year old Sermona, nicknamed ?The Crusher? improved his record to 16-4 with 9 knockouts while the 28 year old Garlett dropped to 11-2 with 6 knockouts.

The Aussie fighter was being reportedly groomed for a title shot.

Garlett had won the title with a 12th round unanimous decision over South Africa?s Sipho Taliwe last May 16 after dropping Taliwe in the fourth round.

Sermona earlier won the Philippine title with a 5th round technical decision over former world title challenger Balweg Bangoyan on March 16 this year.

His No. 15 WBC ranking is expected to rise with the impressive KO win.

Miura, also a southpaw has a record of 25-2-2 with 19 knockouts while Jardon has a record of 19-2 with 17 knockouts.
