Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios and trainer Robert Garcia have both said the Filipinos will survive the terrible tragedy of super typhoon Haiyan that cut a deadly swath of death and destruction in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Prior to boarding a flight from Los Angeles to Macau, reporter Eli Seckbach of ES News.com spoke to Team Rios.
Rios, the former world champion said he read about the deaths and destruction and said he couldn?t believe what he saw on television.
He said ?actually when I was cutting my hair this morning I saw the news about it. I feel bad for them. It's tragic but they are warriors, they are survivors out there. They?ll rebuild it again.?
Trainer Garcia said ?That?s sad. Stay strong. Hopefully it gets better but it's really bad. I?ve been watching the news. I feel bad for all the people. I don?t wish that to anybody in the world. But they?ll be back.?
Team Rios including strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza will taper off training in Macau. Garcia said earlier they wanted to be in Macau at least ten days before the fight so Rios could get acclimatized and get over the long flight from Los Angeles.
Pacquiao, trainer Freddie Roach and his team are scheduled to leave aboard a private jet for Macau on Monday.
