MAURICIO SULAIMAN FORMALLY OPENS WBC CONVENTION IN THE ABSENCE OF DON JOSE

WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman, the youngest son of WBC President Don Jose Sulaiman has formally opened the premier world pro boxing organization?s 51st Annual Convention in Bangkok, Thailand in the absence of his father who is recovering from major heart surgery at the UCLA Medical Center.

Reports from Bangkok said Mauricio Sulaiman paid an emotional tribute to his father?s determined battle back from critical heart surgery and pledged that he will indeed return!

The Executive Secretary Mauricio said that this is the first WBC Convention Don Jose has been unable to attend in 45 years.
The WBC reported that while Mauricio Sulaiman spoke of post operative complications, he also stated that Don Jose is working very hard to recover.

He confirmed that Jose Sulaiman ?Will recover and he will be back to lead this great organization. Long live the WBC. Long live Jose Sulaiman."

Mauricio explained that the WBC is powered by the engines of its committees and Board of Governors and is working well as well as effectively possible in the absence of Don Jose Sulaiman.
Renowned TV commentator Col. Bob Sheridan who has done more than nine hundred world title fights gave an emotional ten count to greats who have passed away in this last year including: Ken Norton, Emile Griffith, Chucho Castillo, Genaro Hernandez and very recently Frankie Leal. As he said: "They are gone, but they are greats and they will never ever be forgotten."

The WBC said the more than 600 delegates were treated to some marvelous singing and accomplished Muay Thai from Thai youngsters with Thailand already proving to be an exceptional and warmly welcoming host.

During the opening ceremony WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko was honored and received an award for being a true example for the youth.

Vitali is always been looking for equality and progress. He will run for President of Ukraine in 2015.

Carlos Rodriguez, who?s a WBC commissioner in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was also honored for his outstanding work in pro boxing with Executive Secretary, Sulaiman thanking him for all his work and dedication.

Also 95 year old Commissioner Newton Campos from Brazil was presented with a special award for his outstanding career in boxing.
