The Philippines Ernie Sanchez of General Santos City, the hometown of Manny Pacquiao, fought gallantly but lost by a lopsided twelve round decision to Mexico?s WBC bantamweight Silver Champion Andres Gutierrez in a Canelo Promotions card in Queretaro, Mexico.

Reports from Mexico said Gutierrez dominated the fight from the opening bell and caught Sanchez with several solid blows throughout although boxingscene.com said Sanchez was a ?game challenger.?

Nicknamed ?Jaguar? Gutierrez had said he wanted to close 2013 with a convincing win and he did just that.

Gutierrez opened the year with a spectacular knockout over Colombia?s Jose Carmona and in April knocked out Salvador Sanchez II in five rounds at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas to win the WBC Silver title.

In his last bout Gutierrez who is ranked No. 5 by WBC won by a twelve round shutout over Rey Perez with Mexican boxing writers classifying Perez as ?a dangerous Filipino? in a bout that was reportedly ?full of emotions.?

With the win the undefeated Gutierrez moved to 28-0-1 with 22 knockouts while Sanchez fell to 14-4 with 5 knockouts.
