Undefeated Filipino southpaw Jun ?Hercules? Doliguez redeemed his reputation after a disappointing majority draw in his US debut against Ruben Tamayo in Yucatan, Mexico last July 20 when scored a 6th round stoppage of Mexican veteran Giovanni Caro on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez ? Timothy Bradley showdown at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Sunday, Manila Time.
Doliguez? wobbled the Mexican journeyman Caro with a cracking left in round one, hurt the Mexican a number of times in subsequent rounds and eventually ended the bout on a high note, with two knockdowns in the sixth round, finishing off Caro with a devastating left straight to the delight of his manager manager Elmer Anuran.
In a pre-fight interview Anuran told the Manila Standard that said Doliguez was determined to put on a good show after training for almost three months at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach under Filipino trainer Benny De La Paz.
The 22 year old Doliguez improved his record of 17-0-2 with 13 knockouts. He had earlier won the vacant WBO Oriental featherweight title with a 5th round knockout of Ciso Morales, a former world title challenger who was knocked out by Fernando Montiel in the first round.
Caro nicknamed ?El Ruso? dropped to 24-14-4 with 19 knockouts and was coming off a 2nd round TKO by tough Hugo Ruiz last June 1 after being dropped twice in the same round.
Caro had also lost by a unanimous twelve round decision to former world champion Fernando Montiel in a clash for the WBC USNBC Silver title on November 24, 2012.
Anuran has high hopes for the hard-hitting Doliguez who is considered a potential future world champion and is under the Viva Sports Management Group.
