Filipino Randy Petalcorin who is ranked No. 2 in the world by the WBA will defend his Pan Asian Boxing Association light flyweight title against Thailand?s Samransak Singmanasak at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne on November 8.
Well known Australian promoter Peter Maniatis who co-manages Petalcorin told the Manila Standard that the hard-hitting southpaw who arrived in Melbourne on Saturday has been training at ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao?s gym in General Santos City since September and is aiming to secure the No.1 ranking with an impressive victory.
Petalcorin, an accomplished fighter who needs to face quality opponents is just 21 years old and has a record of 19-1-1 with 14 knockouts.
While in Mlbourne, Pelacorin will train at the Boxingfit Gym in Port Melbourne.
He is scheduled to face 29 year old Thai veteran Samransak Singmanasak who has a record of 35-20-1 with 27 knockouts who, after losing by a 1st round knockout to Filipino Armand De La Cruz on December 26, 2008 in an IBF Pan Pacific title fight took a long layoff before returning to the ring, according to boxrec.com, last October 5 when he scored a 1st round knockout of Kla Bangmod Sports Centre who was making his professional debut.
Maniatis said ?We are in the process now of getting Randy Petalcorin to meet powerful business man Mr Sean Buckley who is the CEO of international company UltraTune service centers . Mr Buckley has owned many champion race horses and stud farms and Buckley will be present to witness Randy fight.?
Maniatis said that ?if he is impressed I am sure we can promote a World Title fight with Randy in Melbourne with Mr Buckley?s support and TV network Station C31 who have been running the KO Boxing Show on air since 2002 and close to 500 TV episodes.?
