"King Arthur" Villanueva, one of the most promising prospects in the famed ALA Promotions stable faces a truly tough test when he takes on Mexico's Jose "Matador" Cabrera in the supporting main event at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu on October 26 in the top rating "Pinoy Pride" series telacast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.
In the main event, undefeated Genesis Servania battles former WBA super flyweight champion Rafael "El Torito" Concepcion of Panama.
The 26 year old Cabrera who has a record of 22-3-2 with 10 knockouts is coming off back-to-back TKO victories and is determined to avenge the defeat suffered by countryman and former world title challenger Arturo Badillo who was stopped in round four in a battle for the WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title by Villanueva in a fight card at the plush Solaire Resort and Casino along Manila Bay.
Cabrera, who lost by a unanimous twelve round decision to Omar Andres Narvaez in a WBO super flyweight title fight on April 21, 2012 came back with a 4th round TKO over Victor Hernandez on November 24, 2012 and a 6th round TKO over Narciso Lara last August 9 and is fit and ready for the showdown with Villanueva.
The 24 year old Villanueva who earlier scored an impressive twelve round decision over Marco Demecillo to win the WBO Asia Pacific crown, using a stinging jab and counter-punching with precision against the rugged Demecillo while against the slugger Badillo he proved he can also engage in furious exchanges and showed his punching power in stopping the tough Mexican.
In two other interesting fights on the undercard Roli Gasca faces Indonesian southpaw Lande Olin in a super bantamweight bout while undefeated Mark Bernaldez is expected to keep his winning streak going when he takes on Thailand's Khunkiri Wor Wisaruth.
