Three time world champion Miguel Cotto is itching to return and prove he's a boxing immortal.
The World Boxing Council quoted Cotto who said "I feel just great! I?ve completed superb training in Los Angeles and this will be a tremendous fight that the people of Orlando will enjoy.?
The WBC reported that Cotto made the promise after being expertly prepared by Freddie Roach at his Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Cotto will face Delvin Rodr?guez this Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Amway Center in Orlando.
Cotto told the WBC website ?Having changed trainer has been refreshing for my career. Freddie and his team are very professional. I?ve had a wonderful training camp.?
Roach who is very pleased and confident with the training said ?He?s a very committed fighter. He has a great will to do everything. I won't change his style but.... I've been able to help him significantly improve."
Meantime Delvin Rodriguez who'll be facing the onslaught of Cotto has being doing some rocky training in Dominican Republic according to the WBC.
Rodriguez was quoted saying ?I?ve been working on my fitness and strength by running in the mountains in Dominican Republic and then moved to Danbury Connecticut to began sparring.?
Rodriguez enjoyed training in the Dominican Republic and said ?it was great for honing my body and it was great to be training in my homeland.?
The fight against Cotto is the most important step in Rodriguez? career because he knows that a victory will propel him appreciably closer to fight for a world title. He said ?I respect Miguel. I?ve met him before in several places. He's a good man and a great fighter. He'll surely become a Hall of Famer so this will be a very tough fight for me.?
