The World Boxing Council has reported that the fight card in which Filipino Ronnel ?Tarver? Esparas was knocked out in the third round by Thailand?s Sirimongkol Singwancha in a WBC Asia Boxing Council Continental welterweight title fight at the 13 Coins Airport Grand Resort Hotel in Bangkok in a blatant mis-match was promoted by Naris Singwancha.
He is the same Thai businessman who allegedly pays Filipino boxing managers to have some fighters use the Singwancha name which the Games and Amusements Board through a resolution has prohibited, although some promoters continue to use the Singwancha name in fight posters and other promotional material.
The World Boxing Council reported that ?the fight ended abruptly in the third round when Sirimongkol landed a solid one-two combination that floored his rival.?
Sirimongkol who was a former WBC bantamweight and later featherweight champion entered the ring with a record of 73-2 with 45 knockouts while Esparas who at 23 years of age was 13 years younger than Sirimongkol had a miserable record of 10-11-1 with 2 knockouts.
The southpaw was ranked No. 6 super lightweight in the latest ratings of the Games and Amusements Board and No. 15 by the WBC Asian Boxing Council while Sirimongkol was the reigning champion.
The loss was the fourth consecutive loss by Esparas with two of them by knockout once again raising questions as to how the GAB could sanction such a bout.
