Welterweight contender Shawn ?Showtime? Porter, a former sparring partner of ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao has scored a unanimous ten round decision in a rematch against former champion Julio Diaz at the Premier Ballroom of the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.

The two had fought to a draw last December but this time around Porter made sure he?d get the decision by being the more aggressive fighter to take the vacant USBA welterweight title as well as the WBO NABO crown.

All three judges had Porter winning with two judges turning in identical 97-93 scorecards and the third judge having Porter the winner by a wider 98-92 margin.

With the win the undefeated Porter improved to 22-0-1 with 14 knockouts while Diaz dropped to 40-9-1 with 29 knockouts.
Boxing Scene?s Rick Reeno reported that Porter ? went to get Diaz's respect early by coming forward with multiple combinations. Diaz picked up his work-rate in the second and was throwing combinations in close when Porter would let his hands go. They were slugging away in the third, with both landing good shots to the head.?

Porter changed tactics in the fourth round and came out throwing bombs on the inside but Reeno reported that Diaz took them well and started to return fire. Porter was starting to hurt Diaz at the end of the fourth and rocked him early in the fifth.

Porter outworked Diaz in the sixth but the former champion fought back landing several good shots during a late rally to edge the seventh. The eight was close, but Porter took the ninth - despite a few head clashes - by a small margin and although round ten was close Porter landed the cleaner punches to take the round and seal the victory.
