KAMEDA BROTHERS SET RECORD IN BOXING

The victory of Daiki Kameda who beat Rodrigo Guerrero to win the vacant IBF super flyweight title by a unanimous twelve round decision has helped establish a world record with the three Kameda brothers all holding world titles at the same time.
The historic feat by the controversial family whose father Shiro Kameda was banned by the Japan Boxing Commission for unruly behavior after a fight involving his son has appeared to somehow ease the Japanese fight fans attitude towards the crude behavior of the fighters and their father. In fact Koki Kameda, the WBA bantamweight champion is regarded as one of the most popular fighters in Japan with his fights on TV drawing incredible ratings of some 50 percent.
The win by the 24-year-old Daiki Kameda was not without controversy as Guerrero questioned the scorecards of the judges considering that Kameda had been deducted a point in the 5th and 11th rounds for low blows.
Despite the two-point deduction two of the three American judges had Kameda winning handily with Eugene Grant scoring it 116-110 and Robert Hoyle 117-109. Only judge Glen Feldman had it close at 114-112 for Kameda.
The two other Kameda world champions are 26 year old Koki and 22 year old Tomoki who holds the WBO title also in the bantamweight division after winning the title from Namibia?s Paulus Ambunda in a fight card in Cebu last August 1.
The IBF No. 3 ranked Daiki used his footwork to avoid Guerrero who was ranked No. 4 and was a former champion.
Kameda put the pressure on Guerrero in the tenth round when he caught him with a couple of hooks to the head but Guerrero who is from Texas fought back gamely with the last two rounds turning into a slugfest.
Guerrero questioned the judges scores saying "I thought I was slightly ahead on points. My opponent was deducted a point twice. For two judges to score it by such a big margin is unreasonable."
With the win Kameda improved his record to 29-3 with 18 knockouts while the 25 year old Guerrero dropped to 19-5 wit 12 knockouts.
In a post fight interview a tearful Kameda said "I am really happy to join my brothers," while his brothers who were in his corner as Daiki pointed out ?Now we are the world's number one brothers.?
The fight was the first IBF title bout in Japan since the Japan Boxing Commission recognized the IBF some months after it also welcomed the World Boxing Organization.
