Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire has started setting up his training camp for a scheduled November 9 return to the ring following his stunning points decision loss to former Cuban two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux at the Radio City Musical Hall in New York last April 13.
Donaire told the Manila Standard ?I?m starting my training camp for November 9. My shoulder is a lot better and I?m really doing good.?
The former WBO/Ring Magazine super bantamweight champion underwent surgery for torn ligaments in his right shoulder following the Rigondeaux title fight.
Some weeks ago Donaire was walking around at 145 pounds but told us he?s come down to 135 and ?feels stronger? fighting as a featherweight in his next bout.
He said ?126 is good for me? and indicated that if former three-division world champion Vic Darchinyan who had been aching for a rematch is not willing to face him at that weight its alright, stating ?If Darchinyan doesn?t want to fight, there are many other guys out there.?
Donaire told the Standard his usual routine calls for him ?after watching the baby to go jogging and train at night.?
Reflecting on the first round TKO loss of WBC featherweight champion Abner Mares who at one point was regarded as a possible opponent of Donaire and even claimed Donaire was avoiding him said, he was knocked out with a left hook? which is known to be the biggest punch of ?The Filipino Flash.?
He also recalled that he was there in August 2007 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento when former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa knocked out then bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez with a vicious left hook to the ribs.
