ALA Promotions, regarded as Asia?s premier promotional outfit and the organization that created the highly successful ?Pinoy Pride? series, has launched a new program that will feature future boxing heroes in a show titled ?IDOL? which will be telecast on Saturdays from 12 noon ? 2:00 p.m. on Studio 23 once every two months.

ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said ?This show will serve as a vehicle for these young fighters to make a name for themselves and if they are found deserving, to be featured in the ?Pinoy Pride? Series. We want to sustain quality boxing events here in the country and showcase rising prospects through IDOL while Pinoy Pride goes international.?

The youthful Aldeguer announced that ?Pinoy Pride? which is staged in partnership with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN will be in Dubai and is now gearing up for a U.S. tour and the setting up of a training center in San Diego, California.

Aldeguer noted ?We have some of the best boxing talents in the world but the problem is how to nurture them.?

The initial presentation of ?Idol? will feature undefeated 23 year old super flyweight Melvin Gumban who has a record of 14-0 with 6 knockouts against Indonesia?s 22 year old John Bajawa with a record of 11-4 with 6 knockouts in a ten round bout.

Another promising undefeated fighter Mark Bernaldez who has a record of 10-0 with 6 knockouts will go up against battle tested Indonesian veteran Marangin Marbun who has a record of 21-10-1 with 9 knockouts in an eight round bout at 124 pounds.

Marbun, nicknamed ?Dinamita? once fought Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista for the WBC International featherweight title and lost by a 7th round TKO after being dropped in rounds 4 and 7.
The 21 year old Bernaldez is coming off a 2nd round knockout over Arief Blader in Davao City last April 20.

Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo who has been described by the legendary boxing patron Tony Aldeguer as one of the best talents he has seen, will figure in a four round featherweight bout against John Rey Melligen in a clash of young, undefeated talents.

Magsayo has fought twice and won both fights by knockout while Melligen has also foghttwice with one knockout.

Tony Aldeguer has seen such greats as former two division world champion Gerry Pe?alosa, Rodel Mayol and Malcolm Tu?acao who all started their boxing careers under him.

With six programs already lined-up, IDOL Boxing Series will not just sustain high-caliber fight cards but also give exposure to the less known yet highly talented rural boxers.

Vice president and General Manager Dennis Canete said ?The show will be held on August 24 in Escalante City Coliseum and our pilot episode will air on September 14.?

IDOL is set to tour Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
