TOP AUSSIE PROMOTER SAYS RIOS WILL BE A MASSIVE TEST FOR PACQUIAO

Australia?s award-winning promoter and TV and Radio boxing show host Peter Maniatis believes that the fight against Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios ?will be a massive test? for Manny Pacquiao when they clash at the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau on November 24.

Maniatis told the Manila Standard ?if the fight took place three years ago, people would have said it's a mismatch and Manny is going to be charged with manslaughter but because Pacquiao got knocked out in devastating fashion in his last fight (against Juan Manuel Marquez last December 8) it leaves a bit of a question mark. When people get knocked out do they come back better or do they come back worse, so we don?t know.?

He said Rios ?hasn?t got devastating power" even as he emphasized that "if Manny is not impressive it will blow the fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. That?s the fight that everybody wants. If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, he becomes a $60-$80 million fighter again.?

Maniatis who has been regularly named ?Promoter of the Year? in Melbourne, told us Rios is ?tailor-made for Pacquiao. No head movement, one dimensional, moves forward, no devastating power.?

The Aussie promoter said Rios ?will be moving into Manny?s shots and he?s going to be wanting to trade, while Manny has got him on speed and got him on power. We haven?t seen Manny since his loss to Marquez, hopefully nothing has gone wrong and hopefully he is still the same Pacquiao and there are no flaws because at that level he can lose the fight.?

Pacquiao and Rios along with trainers Freddie Roach and Robert Garcia as well as Top Rank promoter Bob Arum traveled to Shanghai from Beijing in the next stop on their promotional tour where they met former NBA superstar Yao Ming, the Houston Rockets giant center.

Pacquiao and Rios are in Shanghai for a press conference to announce their upcoming mega fight in November. Both fighters are making a stop in Shanghai as part of their world-wide media tour which will also include other stops in Singapore, New York and finally ending up in Los Angeles.
