The Pan Asian Boxing Association, an adjunct of the World Boxing Association, has added another dubious decision to the growing list of similar decisions in the past, when it approved a welterweight title defense of undefeated super champion Teerachai Kratingdaenggym of Thailand against Australia?s Ashley Sean Byrne who, according to boxrec.com was making his professional debut in a Galaxy Boxing Promotions card in Bangkok.
Teerachai is ranked No. 12 in the world by the WBA and had a record of 20-0 with 14 knockouts when he entered the ring for the title defense, scoring a 2nd round TKO over Byrne who was not even ranked in the PABA top 15.
The Thai champion had previously stopped a long list of competitive Filipino boxers including Ronnel Esperas, Dondon Sultan, Romeo Jakosalem, Dennis Padua. Joel Dela Cruz and Amor Tino.
The only Filipino boxer who lasted the distance in a title fight was Dan Nazareno Jr who lost by a twelve round unanimous decision in a rematch last May 30, 2012.
The PABA LOGO proudly proclaims the organization as the ?Boxing Leader of the Future? and extols ?integrity, challenge, accolade, reward, unification? whatever its supposed to imply.
Under its director general Alan Kim PABA has often allowed blatant mis-matches which undermine its claims of integrity and the proclamation that the organization is the boxing leader of the future.
These are the kinds of fights that totally alienate boxing fans and put the sport into international disrepute.
