
DOLIGUEZ TO TRAIN AT WILD CARD GYM AFTER DISAPPOINTING PERFORMANCE AGAINST TAMAYO

Undefeated featherweight Jun Doliguez (16-0-2, 12 KO?s) who was held to a majority draw by Mexico?s Ruben Tamayo (22-4-4, 16 KO?s) in Merida last Saturday, will train at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles according to his manager Elmer Anuran.
Anuran himself appeared disappointed since Doliguez, who had signed a two year promotional deal with Fernando Beltran?s Zanfer Promotions, was expected to put on an impressive performance but failed to do so, eliciting critical comments from WBO International featherweight champion Jose Ramirez who was Doliguez? first opponent but backed out because of the small purse which he claimed was originally $3,000 but increased to $4,000 and not $7,000 as claimed in news releases.
Ramirez told Cebu-based Mexican Mike Lopez, who often is in the corner of visiting fighters who clash with ALA Promotions boxers in Cebu, said Ramirez told him he expected Doliguez to win easily because Tamayo was ?just an average fighter.?
This is borne out by the southpaw Tamayo?s ring record where he was knocked out in the 8th round by Jesus Ruiz in a clash for the FECOMBOX super bantamweight title last April 19 after earlier losing by a 5th round TKO to Genaro Camargo in a face off for the Mexican super bantamweight title on December 14, 2012.
Ramirez who is ranked No. 7 in the WBO world ratings said he would love to defend the title he won from Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista last April 20 in Davao City against No. 9 ranked Doliguez saying ?I could easily beat him. Doliguez showed me nothing and he is just all ?hype? coming out of the Philippines.?
Anuran who watched the ?live? feed at Solar Sports, said Tamayo ?used his height and reach advantage effectively. Clearly his style made it hard for Doliguez to catch him perfectly.?
However, to Anuran it was ?a great experience for Doliguez and a lesson for the entire team to adjust, depending on the opponents fighting style.?
He claimed that during the three months of training Doliguez sparred with orthodox fighters since he figured he would face Ramirez and hadn?t prepared for a southpaw like Tamayo.
Anuran said he was impressed with Doliguez? courage which he said was ?more than enough for us? even as he noted it was the first time Doliguez fought outside the Philippines.
The manager expressed confidence that Doliguez ?will be better in his next fight when he will be fully adjusted with his new environment.?
Anuran disclosed he is ?trying to seal a slot on the undercard of the Jesus Chavez Jr fight card in September and are considering Oscar Gonzales as a possible opponent? who could be the 33 year old featherweight with a record of 22-2 with 14 knockouts.
