Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is now the proud father of a son, born to his wife Rachel on Tuesday morning in Las Vegas.
Boxingscene.com reported that Rachel is doing well along with their firstborn son named Jarel which was a name they decided on some time ago.
Rachel was in the news recently when she jumped into a swimming pool during a Fourth of July celebration to save a little kid who was drowning.
Nonito told us after the incident Rachel was in the pool in a flash despite her condition and was commended for her reaction by many who said it was typical of a young woman who was soon to be a mother.
When we spoke to Nonito two days ago he was so excited about his son?s birth which was supposed to take place on July21 but apparently it was a Caesarean birth.
The name Jarel is an acronym for "Jun[ior] and Rachel, Everlasting Love.?
The four-time world titlist reported the news via his Facebook account: ?Bonding time. Thanks to all the the prayers. Rachel had to go through emergency C section, but everything is great 6lbs 12oz.?
Donaire (31-2, 20 KOs) is scheduled to return to the ring in November possibly against Vic Darchinyan whom he knocked out in the 5th round to win the IBF/IBO flyweight belts on July 7, 2007.
Donaire told us he is walking around at 140 pounds or more right now and is not keen on coming down to 122 to face Darchinyan but would rather make his return in late October or early November as a featherweight.
We'd like to congratulate Rachel and Nonito and wish them and Jarel all the very best.
