Undefeated featherweight Jun Doliguez (16-0-1, 12 KO?s) has signed a two year promotional agreement with Zanfer Promotions of Mexico headed by Fernando Beltran.
Doliguez? manager Elmer Anuran disclosed that the promising featherweight had also recently signed a two year talent management contract with Viva Sports Management headed by Vic Del Rosario.
Anuran said Top Rank was interested in signing up Doliguez but he declined because of the Top Rank deal with MP Promotions where any Filipino boxer who is featured on a Top Rank card must go through MP Promotions.
He said Zanfer ?offered a better deal after Top Rank failed to revise their initial offer.? Anuran also disclosed that Zanfer had ?an option for a one year automatic extension should they execute fairly what was written in the contract.?
Doliguez is scheduled to face Ruben Tamayo at the International Convention Center in Merida, Mexico on July 20. Tamayo is a replacement for WBO Intercontinental featherweight champion and No. 7 ranked Jose ?Negro? Ramirez who has a record of 25-3 with 15 knockouts.
Tamayo has a record of 22-4-3 with 16 knockouts.
Doliguez who is ranked No. 9 behind an undefeated record of 16-0-1 with 12 knockouts is currently training at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles in preparation for the July 20 fight against Tamayo in Mexico.
In what promises to be an exciting battle of southpaws, Tamayo is coming off a win last January 14 over Juan Beltran who retired in the fourth round.
However, Tamayo lost by an 8th round knockout to Jesus Ruiz in a rematch for the WBC Fecombox title last April 19 after salvaging a split draw against Ruiz on June 23, 2012.
Tamayo also lost by a 5th round TKO to Genaro Camargo on December 14, 2012.
