The surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on the right shoulder of WBC minimum weight Silver champion Denver Cuello has been successful.

The surgery was performed by top Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Beng Javier and his team at the Makati Medical Center this afternoon.

Cuello?s manager Aljoe Jaro told the Manila Standard ?the operation was successful. Denver?s shoulder is back to normal.?

The hard-hitting southpaw lost a majority decision in his quest to wrest the title from Chinese champion Xiong Zhao Zhong at the World Trade Center in Dubai last June 28 when he was forced to fight with one hand after a couple of rounds.

Aljoe Jaro told us that Cuello?s hand will be in a sling for one month after which he will undergo rehab for around three months.

The manager said Cuello will be ready to face Zhong in a rematch late this year or early next year after WBC president Don Jose said that he was polling the board of governors and so far every member has agreed to his rematch proposal and believes it will be approved.

Cuello who had waited two years for the title shot was overjoyed by the news which should effectively speed up his recovery.

Aljoe Jaro quoted Dr. Javier as telling him, after the surgery and rehab, Cuello will be better than ever.
