WBC minimum weight Silver champion Denver Cuello is likely to get a rematch with champion Xiong Zhao Zhong to whom he lost in a controversy-marred majority decision in a title fight At the World Trade Center in Dubai last June 28.
In response to a complaint submitted by Cuello?s manager Aljoe Jaro through his lawyer Atty. Richard Flores about the non-compliance with the anti-doping rules that are mandatory in all WBC title fights, WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman assumed the blame ?for not considering the special circumstances of a fight in a place where there was no knowledge whatsoever of what professional boxing is.?
In reacting to the request for a rematch between Cuello and Zhong, Sulaiman said ?please be assured that the Board of Governors will vote favorably on my recommendation for a rematch as soon as Denver is medically approved to return to boxing.?
Sulaiman said ?we do not have a majority voting yet, but all those received as of today have been in favor? of a rematch.
Cuello is scheduled to undergo surgery for a torn rotator cuff muscle in his right shoulder at the Makati Medical Center on July 15 after being asked to take a rest for 7 to 10 days by top-notch orthopedic surgeon Dr. Beng Javier.
