ALA PROMOTIONS MARJOHN YAP SNAPS STRING OF FILIPINO BOXERS SETBACKS

After a string of painful setbacks in Mexico, Thailand and Japan, ALA Promotions Marjohn Yap had snapped the losses with an eight round majority decision win over Japan?s Kyotaro Kawabata at the Central Gym in Kobe. Japan.

With the welcome win. Yap improves to 19-9 with 10 knockouts while Kawabata drops to 8-1 with 3 knockouts.
Two of the three judges scored the fight for the tough Yap, 77-75, 77-76 in a close encounter while the third judge saw it even at 76-76.

Yap who is trained by young Joseph Baldago was coming off a loss to another Japanese Ryosuke Iwasa last March 2 but made no mistake this time hours before emerging ALA fighters take to the ring in a big ?Pinoy Pride XXI? card at the plush Solaire Resort and Casino in ?Entertainment City? fronting Manila Bay.

In the main event newly crowned WBO minimum weight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo makes the first defense of his title against Colombia?s Jorlie Estrada who is ranked No. 6 while promising King Arthur Villanueva battles Mexico?s KO artist Arturo Badillo in the main supporting bout for the WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title.
