ABS-CBN will telecast a primer on the first WBO minimum weight title defense of Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo against Jorlie Estrada of Colombia on July 7 at 8:30 a.m. over Channel 2.
Sabillo won the title last March with a rousing 8th round TKO over highly-touted Luis De La Rosa in Colombia, dropping De La Rosa twice en route to an impressive win.
Sabillo?s trainer Editor ?Ala? Villamor says the 29 year old champion is in great shape and is determined to put on an explosive performance for fight fans on ?Pinoy Pride XXI? at the plush Solaire Resort Hotel & Casino in the Philippine ?Entertainment City? along Manila Bay.
A longer version which will include the main supporting bout between undefeated Arthur ?El Matador? Villanueva who has a record of 21-0 with 11 knockouts and hard-hitting Mexican challenger Arturo Badillo who has a record of 19 knockouts in 21 wins with just 4 losses will be aired on Studio 23 on the same day at 11:30 a.m.
Villanueva and Badillo will clash for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title.
The fight card itself will be telecast on the pre-eminent Channel 2 at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 14.
The pre-fight primer is hosted by Atty. Ed Tolentino and this reporter and was shot at the ?In This Corner? gym of the late Rod Nazario, now run by his son Rommel Nazario in Sucat, Paranaque.
