
Garcia, Chinese ace share top spot in Asian Youth Chess

International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia of the Philippines and Ma Zhonghan of China share the lead after the seventh round of the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2013 in Sari, Iran.
The Manila resident Garcia, top player of Ateneo de Manila University subdued Javanbakht Nima of Iran while Ma crushed Javidfard Amirsalar of Iran to share the top spot with six points each in the Boys 18 and under.
Le Tu Minh of Vietnam is at third place with 5.0 points, winner over Eiti Bashir of Syria.
Woman Fide Master Marie Antoinette San Diego of Dasmarinas, Cavite beat Senarath Kavindi Nipunika of Sri Lanka to raise her total 3.5 points in the Girls 18 and under.
In the Boys 16 and under, Fide Master Paulo Bersamina of Pasay City drew with Tran Tuan Minh of Vietnam to climb at solo second place with 6.0 points after eight games of play. Koushik Girish Arun of India split the point with Mosadeghpoor Masoud of Iran to remain on top with 6.5 points.
Ella Grace Moulic of Davao City was yielded to Mugunda Kumar Mahalakshmi of Iran to remain at 4.0 points and was dropped into a a tie for 7th to 12th place in the Girls 16 and under after eight games of play.
In the Boys 8 and under, world youngest Fide Master seven year old Alekhine Nouri of Taguig City defeated Sindarov Javokhir of Uzbekistan to scored 5.0 points, the same output of Pourmousavi Seyed Kian of Iran and Nguen Duc Sang of Vietnam. Ramesh Babu Praggnanandhaa of India nipped compatriot Dey Mahitosh to take the lead with 7.5 points, full point ahead over Amartuvshin Ganzorig and Tugstumur Esuntumur of Mongolia who tote 6.5 points.
Jerlyn Mae San Diego of Dasmarinas, Cavite bowed to Ravi Rakshitta of India. She was stuck at 4.5 points in seven outings in the Girls 8 and under.
The country's campaign in the tournament is supported by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and Bayan Muna Party-list group.
Other member of the team are Daryl Unix Samantila of Tonsuya, Malabon (4.5 points/ OU14); Istraelito Rilloraza of Las Pinas City (4.5 points/ OU12); Deniel Quizon of Taytay, Rizal (4.0 points/ OU10); Samantha Glo Revita of Rosales, Pangasinan (3.5 points/ G14); Bea Mendoza of Baguio City (4.0 points/ G12) and Mary Joy Tan of Misamis Oriental (3.5 points/ G10).-Marlon Bernardino-
