In a battle of former world champions, WBA world-ranked Panama-based Venezuelan Jean Piero P?rez will clash with former WBC Jr. Flyweight World Champion Kompayak Porpramook for the vacant WBA interim Flyweight (112 lbs.) title on Friday (April 26) in the Kingdom of Thailand.

The neutral officials named by the WBA are: third man Ferlin Marsh of New Zealand. Judges are Glenn Feldman of Connecticut, USA, Juan Manuel Garc?a Reyes of Andaluc?a Spain and Francisco Mart?nez of Auckland, New Zealand.

JEAN PIERO P?REZ

This title fight will be the second golden chance for the technical Jean Piero P?rez to battle for a world crown.

In his first attempt in 2011, P?rez decisioned hard-swinging Mexican leftie Jes?s "Destroyer" Mart?nez (34-8-1, 25KO's) to capture the WBA interim belt in Guadalajara, M?xico.

In September of last year, P?rez lost a majority decision to undefeated Cebu-based ALA fighter Milan Melindo (29-0, 12KO's) in Cebu, Philippines, an intense 12-round tactical combat that should have been voted a draw.

In his last fight one month ago, P?rez outsmarted Eddy Z??iga in Costa Rica and has said to be ready for "the most important fight" of his life.

Jean Piero P?rez (20-5-1, 14KO?s), currently the WBA #6 flyweight, will fly from Panama City, Panama to Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (April 18), arriving in the amazing Land of Smiles on April 20.

The battle will be staged on April the 26th in the picturesque City of Khon Kaen, a town blessed by impressive Buddhist Temples, located 450 Km northeast of the capital Bangkok.

KOMPAYAK PORPRAMOOK

Meanhile, the 30-year-old Kompayak Porpramook (49-4, 34KOs) comes to his rumble with Jean Piero P?rez from a knockout win over unheralded fellow Thai boxer Narongnoy Patanakan Gym last February in Wang Noi, Thailand.

In December of 2011, Kompayak scored the most important victory in his long career by knocking out in 10 rounds then WBC Jr. Flyweight World Champion Adrian "El Confesor" Hern?ndez in Bangkok, Thailand.

After a successful first defense to Filipino Jonathan Taconing (15-2-1, 12KOs) in Buriram, Thailand, Kompayak was destroyed in six rounds his second defense by "El Confesor" Hern?ndez in their rematch in Toluca M?xico, losing the thailander his WBC belt.

However, after his loss in M?xico, Kompayak Porpramook - currently WBA # 3 Flyweight, WBC # 2 Jr. Flyweight - has scored three successful knockout wins, paving the way for his WBA Flyweight Title rumble with the Jean Piero P?rez, 32, a make or break fight for both experienced fighters.

The new WBA interim champion might defend against a Filipino challenger:

Filipino ALA fighter Rocky "The Road Warrior" Fuentes (34-6-2, 20KO's) of Cebu is WBA # 2; while "The Sniper" Froilan Saludar (16-0-1, 11KO's) of Digos City is WBA # 4.

Fuentes sees action this Saturday (April 20) against hard-hitting Mexican Juan "Loquito" Kantun (20-3-3, 15KO's) in Davao, but "The Sniper" has been inactive since September of last year.

OTHER FLYWEIGHTS WORLD CHAMPIONS

Other Flyweight world champions are: WBA/WBO Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada (23-2, 18KO's) of M?xico, IBF Moruti Mthalane (29-2, 20KO's) of South Africa and the newly crowned WBC world champion Akira Yaegashi (17-3, 9KO's) of Japan.
