Ali Laurel wins in King of the Ring 3 at Victory Mall in Caloocan Friday.
An evening of knockouts in Manila. Indeed, an entertaining festival of crushing knockouts took place during the successful King of the Ring III boxing card last night at Victory Mall Central in Caloocan, Manila, an intense event of professional and amateur boxing produced by promoters Brico Santig of Baguio, Philippines and Naris Singwancha of Thailand.

In the main event of the evening, 21-year-old Gensan?s fighter Alie Laurel (9-2, 5 KO?s) of the Manny Pacquiao Stable of boxers looked impressive scoring a round five technical knockout over 51-fights veteran Rodel "Kidlat" Quilotan, 29, during their all-out battle for the coveted Luzon Professional Boxing Association (LUZPROBA) bantamweight (118 lbs) belt. The third man in charge was the experienced Mr. Sammy Bernabe of Cavite.

The young prot?g? of the "Pacman" showed improved speed and willingness to engage during his victory over seasoned warrior Quilotan, a fighter of guts and spirit who for years has faced some of the meanest Asian fighters in the Philippines and Thailand.

In the co-main event, promising 23-year-old Rex Wao Singwancha (6-0,5 KO?s) of Mountain Province in northern Luzon, pressed forward his unblemished young career by capturing the LUZPROBA super bantamweight (122 lbs) title after a round four demolition of tough leyte?o warrior Dino Lelis (9-10-2, 5 KO?s), a member of the Cavite Boxing Stable.

In a non-title rumble, reigning WBC ABCO Continental Jr. Flyweight (108 lbs) champion 20-year-old davae?o Jay-ar Estremos (9-5, 3 KO?s) pinned a fast and impressive knocked out win in the very first stanza over surprised veteran Ryan ?Sniper? Maliteg.

As soon as the first bell sounded, the young Estremos aggressively went at Maliteg, making good use of his speed and increased power to quickly punish and break his more experienced foe, prompting Quezon City referee Mr. Nowel C. Haduca to correctly halt all actions, all compressed in less than 3 minutes.

In another knockout action, undefeated super featherweight (122 lbs) Stephen Gelawa (4-0-1, 2 KO) of the Highland Boxing Stable destroyed in four chapters 20-year-old Arnel ?The Hitman? Taganas (2-6, 1 KO).

Taganas, wearing a black trouser with red stripes was forced down to the canvas. Visibly hurt, he appeared to be willing to get back into action, but the brave Butuan boxer was appropriately waved off by the third man Mr. Sammy Bernabe.

Prior to the pro fights, there were thrilling amateur contests that entertained the avid fans.

After the intense evening was over, the card's co-promoter and matchmaker Brico Santig of Baguio's Highland Boxing shared:

?Fights were all tough blow-by-blow encounters. We witnessed passion for the sport of boxing. Fans had a good time! The winning boxers used power and good timing to dominate their opponents.

"The amateur kids also showed fighting spirit and talent in during their performances earlier in the evening. Fans watched in action some up and coming amateur fighters from Mandaluyong, La Trinidad (Benguet) and Muntinlupa."

Fights had been approved by the Philippines Games and Amusement Board (GAB), presided by the honorable chairman don Juan Ramon Guanzon.

Promoters of King of the Ring III, Filipino Brico Santig and Naris Singwancha of Thailand, promise to join hands again to produce the next King of the Ring.
