Filipino Canadian Pugilist Junmar ?El Toro? Emon has already had a busy year with a couple of back to back wins in the Dominican Republic last January. His fight at the Mississauga?s Hersey Center against Brandon Cook last December was considered as one of the top fights in Canadian soil last year, worthy of the Canadian fight of the year. Brandon Cook edged out Junmar Emon in the scorecards, a controversial call to many fans who thought the decision should have gone in favor of the hard hitting Filipino Canadian.
In his third fight this year, Junmar ?El Toro? Emon who has currently 4 wins and 1 loss will meet Jeremy ?Showtime? Abbott who has 3 wins and 3 losses. The fight card is a rare Monday event promoted by Todd Brady from Bullion Boxing Promotions. The event is a black tie affair located at 5 star Ritz Carlton Hotel situated in downtown Toronto.
Jeremy ?Showtime? Abbott made a commitment to dedicate this fight to a child close to him. He will be donating a portion of his fight purse towards a 9 year old Filipino Canadian boy Cyrus Jacob Mitias who is recovering from brain cancer. Abbott recently paid his opponent Junmar Emon and his Manager/Coach Richard Souce a visit and explained his situation with contributing a portion of his fight purse. Without hesitation, Emon and his coach welcomed and supported Jeremy Abbott and joined him in with his mission for a worthy cause.
Once the news got out within our boxing community, Mark Erwin of WINSports Management who is Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan?s manager, also agreed to join Jeremy Abbott and Junmar Emon?s pledge by making his own contribution to help young Cyrus Jacob Mitias. Furthermore, he?s called out other boxing managers and promoter to do the same.
Once the bell rings, the pleasantries will end for 6 rounds between Emon and Abbott. Jeremy ?Showtime? Abbott has not fought for over a year since losing to Ghislain Maduma at the Montreal Bell Centre. Abbott is looking to resume his boxing career at the expense of Junmar Emon and stated that he won?t be an easy opponent for the Filipino Canadian Slugger. The ring rust is gone and Jeremy Abbott is in tremendous ready to give it his all. Meanwhile, Junmar Emon who is already in fight shape has been ready to fight at anytime has just been counting down the days for this fight.
Jeremy Abbott who has been a long time friend to Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan had the opportunity to train side by side with him in the amateurs and for a brief moment during this fight camp. Abbott?s coach is Filipino Canadian Vince Sarria who was an amateur boxer of Socrates Celestial and coach of Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan.
There are 2 title fights as co-main events for the Bullion Boxing Promotions Black Tie Affair; Ghislain Maduma will fight Jusafat Perez for the vacant WBC Continental America?s lightweight title. Dangerous Denton Daley meets Richard Hall for the vacant NABF Cruiserweight Title. Chukwunoso Okafor will meet Benito Quiroz in the undercards.
