
2013 Philippine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and No Gi and Kids International Open gets underway

MANILA---The country?s young and upcoming Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will display their wares on February 23 and 24 when they vie for honors in the 2013 Philippine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and No Gi and Kids International Open at the basement level of SM South Mall in Las Pinas City.
"This event gives our aspiring fighters, some as young players the chance to test what they have learned so far," says Organizing Committee Stephen Kamphius. "The tournament starts the sport?s lovers at a young age and contributes to the country's grassroots program." he added.
Parents interested to see their children learn the sport at a young age will definitely enjoy watching this tournament, which starts at 9 a.m.
The kids competition competition also prepares young Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players for important future and international tournaments.
Only recently, Filipino bets Allan Drueco produced an explosive showing in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Asia-Pacific World Qualifying Trials (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) last Nov. 4 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Drueco emerged champion in the male advance division to represent the Philippines and Asia-Pacific in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Submission Wrestling World Championship this year in Brazil.
Kamphius initiated the successful holding of the qualifying tournament. Kamphius said this will be the first time the Philippines will be sending a representative to the world championships.
In Brazil this year, Kamphius said Drueco will have the distinction of competing with seven other martial arts regional champions representing various countries.
Kamphius, an New Zealand staying in the country for about four years, is promoting jijitsu in the Philippines as the safest form of martial arts even for children and girls . For more details please visit their official website at http://www.bjjfp.com. -Marlon Bernardino-
