Super Welterweight World champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, began his preparation towards the sixth defense of his WBC title belt, scheduled on May 4 against an opponent to be announced.

The Mexican superstar ran early today in Los Colomos forest, in Guadalajara, Mexico under the watchful eye of his manager Chepo Reynoso and his trainer Edison Reynoso. Canelo and his team were surrounded by a group of fighters who fight under the CANELO PROMOTIONS banner.

The "Canelo" ran with hat and gloves to cover the prevailing cold winter morning in Guadalajara.

"It feels good to return to training camp," said the new Mexican boxing idol.

During the year 2012, Saul Alvarez successfully defended the 154-pound title by defeating the legendary Shane Mosley and up and coming Josesito Lopez.

In the afternoon, the champion went to the Gym that bears his name to complete his first day of practice. He jumped rope, shadow boxed, and ended up his training routine by working his abs.

"It was a full day for the champion, we won?t stop working until their May fight, this is the beginning of a new chapter," said Edison Reynoso.

Saul Alvarez worked with enthusiasm, took time to joke and wish much success this year to the young prospects George "Pylon" Lara, Horacio "Violento" Garcia, Oscar "Raton" Cortes who were all working as hard as the champion.
