Filipino Featherweight Champion Alvin Tam Singwancha (13-3, 2KO's), 28, of Baguio captured the vacant WBC Asia Council Continental title by scoring a round 5 technical knocking out over hard-hitting JR Edurot (9-2, 8KO's) of Gensan in the main event of the "Fight For Glory" card Saturday night at La Trinidad Municipal Gym, Benguet.
In the co-main event, 21 year-old Lionel Mark Duran (9-6-2, 3KO's) of Baguio and experienced Gensan's veteran Michael Rodriguez, 30, drew in their 10-round battle for the vacant Filipino (PBF) Flyweight (112 lbs) Title. None of the fighters got the coveted belt.
Also, undefeated 22 year-old super bantamweight Rex Wao Singwancha (5-0, 3KO's) of Tadian, Mountain Province kept his unbeaten record intact by knocked out Bulacan's Jovill Marayan (7-12-3, 3KO's), a fighter of the Art Afable stable of boxers.
In addition, Visayas fighter Carlo Magale (14-6-2, 6KO's) of Talibon, Bohol scored a third round knock out over fifty-four-fights veteran Gerald Ubatay of Cagayan de Oro. Magale's youth and power prevailed over Ubatay's experience in the short by torrid skirmish in the super featherweight division.
GAB supervisor was Rafael Diokno and the GAB physician was Dr. Lee Buasen.
"Fight For Glory" last Saturday night @ La Trinidad Municipal Gym was a production of Thailand promoter Naris Singwancha in association with LTBM-Highland Boxing and the support of La Trinidad Mayor Hon. Gregorio T. Abalos Jr.
