Year 2012 still has exciting action for fight fans in the Philippines as promoters Naris Singwancha and Brico Santig proudly present the double championship card "Fight For Glory" this Saturday (Dec 22) @ La Trinidad Municipal Gym, Benguet.
In the main event, Filipino Featherweight Champion Alan Tam Singwancha (12-3, 2KO's) risks his Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight crown against promising hard-hitting 20 year-old JR Edurot (9-1, 8KO's) of General Santos City, a fight also valid for the vacant WBC Asia Council Continental featherweight title.
DURAN VS RODRIGUEZ FOR FILIPINO TITLE
The co-main event, 21 year-old Lionel Mark Duran (9-6-1, 3KO's) of Baguio will clash with the durable and experienced Michael "Matibay" Rodriguez for the vacant Filipino (PBF) Flyweight (112 lbs) Title.
Despite a dismal record of thirteen wins in forty seven combats, Michael Rodriguez is not such an easy prey. The General Santos City native has exchanged leather with some of the very best fighters in the lower divisions, including former world champ Suriyan Sor Sungvisai, reigning Super Flyweight World champion Tepparith Kokietgym of Thailand and World #1 Flyweight Milan Melindo.
Rodriguez was outclassed, but he was fearless in combat, displaying guts and fighting spirit. No big shots could rock him. Rodriguez's ring experience is an invaluable commodity, so fans wonder if Lionel Duran can knock him out or the other way around.
MORE FIGHTS
In a super bantamweight fight, undefeated 22 year-old Rex Wao Singwancha of Tadian, Mountain Province will exchange bombs with "The Pride of Bulacan" Jovill Marayan (7-11-3, 3KO's), a fighter of the Art Afable stable of boxers.
In addition, Visayas fighter Carlo Magale (14-6-2, 6KO's) of Talibon, Bohol squares off fifty three fights veteran Gerald Ubatay of Cagayan de Oro, a combat against youth and experience in the super featherweight division.
"Fight For Glory" this Saturday @ La Trinidad Municipal Gym is a production of Thai promoter Naris Singwancha in association with LTBM-Highland Boxing and the support of La Trinidad Mayor Hon. Gregorio T. Abalos Jr.
