A great Halloween Day for Migreno.
Unheralded Filipino Rey Migreno (18-20-3, 16KO's) achieved the greatest success in his young boxing career by impressively pummeling and knocking out WBC Fighter of Decade Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (87-5-2, 46KO's) during their action clash on Hallowen Day in Nakhon Ratchasima, Kingdom of Thailand, capturing the WBC International flyweight title and a place in WBC's world rankings. Official time of the technical KO was 2:05 of round 3.
Lauded world's #4 flywgitht Thai Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, who earlier this year was named "WBC Fighter of the Decade" suffered his second defeat at the hands of Filipino fighters. Last March unheralded Sonny Boy Jaro of Rizal Province destroyed him to grab his WBC Flyweight world title and just yesterday Rey Migrino of Misamis Occidental blew him out to take his WBC International flyweight crown.
Here is the description from ringside photographer Bangkok Gurentai from Thailand:
"Pure fighter Migreno changes his fight style for this fight. Migreno uses weaving to avoid punch of Pongsaklek but Migreno's short punch caught Pongsaklek several times. But until finish round 2 both boxers still exchanged their punch and there are not so much difference. In the middle of round 3, Migreno knocked down Pongsaklek by his right long hook. The punch looks like a straight blow but the orbit is bit hook line. At this time Pongsaklek still stood up and show will to fight. But Migreno continued to rush punches on face of Pongsaklek. At last Pongsaklek got so many punches on his face and down on ring again. Referee Mr. Noppharat Sricharoen stopped fight without count."
Pongsaklek declared to the Thai media that after a long career, the fight was Migreno was his last one.
