Bad day at the office for Glenn. After 12-rounds of non-stop action, Mexican Omar Soto (in the foto) defeated popular world rated Filipino Glenn Donaire via unanimous decision to capture the North American Boxing Organization (NABO) flyweight title last Friday at the Ala Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Florida, in the main event of a card organized by Glenn Donaire's promoter All Star Boxing.
Born in Gensan, Glenn "The Bomber" Donaire, elder brother of sensational world champion Nonito Donaire, got in the ring as the huge favorite, but at the end it was the underdog Omar Soto the warrior who prevailed, even though Soto had been away from boxing for about a year.
Despite the inactivity, Soto's performance was way more effective than the Donaire's, who had no resources to counter the pressure and effective attacks dished out by the relentless Mexican veteran, a fact reflected in the judges scorecards: 118-110 (twice), 116-112, all for Omar Soto.
Before his unexpected lost to Omar Soto, the 32-year-old Glenn Donaire has been well rated in all major world boxing organizations: WBA #3, WBO #6, WBC #14 and IBF #14.
